Talvihallan C-litter was born on 8th June! We have 4 males and 3 females with weight of 370-490 grams at birth.

Uvar was a smaller sized (61 cm) male that was working as a herding dog at the ranch of his breeder Peggy Richter in California herding bulls up to 2000 pounds. Uvar was the first dog ever in AKC to earn qualifying legs on all the courses and stock offered in herding. He was also the first male Groenendael with four Championships; the very first Groenendael ever to do that was Uvar's mother Korvar.

From his character Uvar was stable nerved, quite hard and dominant, and he had a lot of desire to work - he was even ready to continue working immediately after being kicked or run over by a bull. At home Uvar was calm and social as a pack dog.

Also Uvar's parents have worked as herding dogs, and Uvar's mother Korvar is still working at Peggy Richter's ranch. Korvar is the first female to earn the WTCH (working trial champion) and Uvar's father Nyjel the first Groenendael to hold the HTCH.

Uvar's offspring in four litters are working in herding, agility, tracking and obedience. One of Uvar's sons, Rogue Gaia Kuymal, has been trained to find desert tortoises and rare plants and is in that way helping biologists to find endangered species of wildlife in Oregon.

Uvar succumbed to lyphosarcoma at 19th January 2009, at the age of 10 years. Lymphosarcoma is a cancer of lyphocytes and lymphoid tissues. It can be caused for instance by a virus, radiation or immune system abnormalities that predispose the dog to enviromental carcinogens.

Halla is a six years old female with a great desire to fight and a very strong prey drive. She has got an excellent motivation to work and she is easy to train. Halla is always ready to work, but at home she is a very calm and easy going friend - also under the pause periods in training. Halla has bred one litter, Talvihallan B-litter, that is still very young. So far the puppies have shown very promising qualities for working and they have got a very strong motivation for nose work, especially for tracking. The whole B-litter has already been health checked of the bones: they all have A/A-hips, 0/0-elbows and a healthy spine.

The goal of this litter is to produce strongly motivated Groenendaels for all kinds of work and to broaden the tight gene pool of the Groenendaels in Finland. Uvar brings fresh blood to the Finnish (and the European) Groenendael population. Thank you, Peggy, for giving us this opportunity!
